MCU fans have been begging for Scarlet Witch’s return. Olsen has repeatedly said she’d be open to coming back under the right circumstances — though she hasn’t confirmed any official talks with Marvel. Now, a new interview has sparked even more hope, thanks to a dream team-up Olsen says she would love to see on screen.
Elizabeth Olsen Wants a Marvel Comeback — With Aubrey Plaza’s Lady Death
Elizabeth Olsen recently appeared at Spacecon San Antonio and opened up about whether she’d ever return to play Wanda. She didn’t spill any secrets about huge upcoming Marvel films like Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but she did admit she’d jump back in if it meant working with Aubrey Plaza again.
Plaza made her MCU debut last year in Agatha All Along as Rio Vidal — also known as Lady Death. Olsen and Plaza already shared the screen in the 2017 dark comedy Ingrid Goes West, and fans loved their chaotic dynamic. Olsen says she’d love to reunite, but this time as two dangerously powerful supernatural beings, each capable of bending reality — and spilling plenty of blood — to get what they want.
Lady Death's arrival hints at a darker supernatural future for the MCU. While the comics tie Lady Death to Thanos — who literally destroyed half the universe trying to impress her — the MCU skipped that storyline. Still, she could easily return in upcoming darker Marvel projects like Blade or Moon Knight. And Scarlet Witch fits perfectly into that world too, making the thought of these two teaming up (or going head-to-head) wildly exciting.
A Scarlet Witch Lady Death Alliance Would Be Insane
Imagine Scarlet Witch and Lady Death on the same screen. Fans would lose it — and for good reason. Olsen and Plaza have fantastic chemistry, and their characters are both terrifyingly powerful women who don't take orders from anyone.
A rivalry between them would be epic. Wanda is one of the most powerful beings in the MCU, but Lady Death literally controls life and death itself. She may be one of the few characters strong enough to defeat Wanda in a battle — making their face-off a potential MCU milestone. It would be a cosmic-level showdown unlike anything Marvel fans have seen.
But a team-up? That could be even cooler.
If Wanda really did die, who better to resurrect her than Death herself? Lady Death could offer Wanda her life back — in exchange for help with a mission in the living world. That kind of dark magical bargain could bring Wanda back full-time, while creating a fascinating, dangerous alliance between the two.
Whether as allies or enemies, the possibilities are endless — if Marvel decides to pull the trigger.
Will Scarlet Witch Actually Come Back?
As exciting as all this sounds, nothing is confirmed. With the Multiverse Saga nearly wrapped, Marvel might choose to reboot Wanda instead, especially to connect her with the X-Men storyline from the comics. But it would be a massive missed opportunity not to bring Olsen back at least one more time — especially since Wanda needs redemption after her villain turn.
There’s still hope she could show up in Marvel’s Vision Quest series in 2026, a continuation of WandaVision. This could give Wanda and Vision the emotional reunion fans have been craving and repair her image for general audiences who only remember her rampage.
There’s also a tiny chance Wanda appears in Avengers: Doomsday, coming December 2026. The movie will bring back several legendary characters, including Fox’s X-Men mutants. Fans have always wanted to see Olsen’s Wanda meet Magneto — her father in the comics — and this could be the last chance to make that happen.
But with so many characters already packed into the Multiverse finale, her return isn't guaranteed. If she doesn't appear in Doomsday or Secret Wars, this could truly be the end of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
Marvel is running out of time to give fans the Scarlet Witch return they’ve been begging for. Whether she rises again to team up with Lady Death, reunite with Vision, or finally meet Magneto, fans can only hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Wanda Maximoff.
